concept, product and film design
As part of the ‘swipe right generation,’ I have noticed that the key moments of meeting a potential partner are normally instigated through a screen, turning what used to be a fully immersive experience into a cyber, two dimensional one, thereby removing all the exciting elements of romance and attraction.
Taking inspiration from the honesty and sensually stimulating courtship rituals demonstrated in the animal world, I have designed the equivalent for humans, bringing back face to face interaction and returning our attention to the physical, rather than the virtual.
Finding a middle ground to our current way of communicating, I take the positives from the “screen” and combine it with reality. By means of interactive wearables, I have designed a system to make emotional signals clearer, to bring back trust and clarity among the sexes, and consequently encourage conversation.
